Forums on their own domain were showing a not-found page instead of the forum. The lookup that matches a domain to its forum was calling an address that never answered. It is fixed, and if you set up a domain and gave up on it, it should work now with no changes on your side.
A banned member can no longer get back in through an old invitation, or by being approved from the join queue. A post from them that was waiting for approval can't be approved either, and banning someone clears their waiting posts. Banned members also can't create or edit characters in that forum.
Anonymous posts no longer show up under a character sheet or in character recaps, so the author can't be worked out that way. Private threads now stay private everywhere: thread summaries, story layers and @mention suggestions all check that you can see the thread first.
Posts that drop a phone number or a WhatsApp link from a new member now wait for a moderator, the same way posts with outside links do, and accounts that keep creating spam forums are locked. The public forum directory lists a forum once it has three members, the same rule search engines already got. Forums that sat untouched for two weeks with a single member are archived so the directory stays useful. If one of those is yours, open it from your dashboard and reactivate it, nothing is deleted for another 30 days.
New accounts now get a short message from Forumera in their own language, asking what they want to build and what could be better. It shows up under Support inside Forumera, not in your email, and it is sent once. Reply there and it goes straight to the people who build Forumera.
You can now add a small image to your signature, such as a banner or a button: edit your profile and use the Add image button, or paste an image into the signature box. Signature images are capped at 120 pixels tall so they stay tidy under posts. The docs gained pages on custom domains, exporting and importing your forum, and posts waiting for approval.
Pro forums can now live at a domain you own, such as forum.yoursite.com. Add the domain under Settings, General, create one CNAME record, and the certificate is issued for you. Public pages, feeds and sitemaps move to the new address and the old forumera.com subdomain redirects there. Signing in and posting still happen on the forumera.com address for now.
Forums created only to drop a backlink are now archived automatically, and a forum is not offered to search engines until it has three members, so Forumera does not lend its reputation to spam. Two throwaway email domains are blocked at signup, forum creation is limited to three per day, and a first post that contains a link from a brand-new account now waits for a moderator instead of going live, with an approve or reject queue under Settings, Log. On the marketing side there is a new side-by-side comparison of eight forum platforms, including the ones we compete with, a "Forumera at a glance" fact block, and real product screenshots in light and dark mode.
Moving a community off phpBB is now something we do for you: send a database dump and we import your categories, boards, threads, posts and members, with old topic links redirecting to their new home. Forum owners can also export their forum's data as JSON at any time. The features page now lists everything Forumera ships, so you can see it all in one place before you switch.
