Spam gets caught sooner, empty forums get tidied

Posts that drop a phone number or a WhatsApp link from a new member now wait for a moderator, the same way posts with outside links do, and accounts that keep creating spam forums are locked. The public forum directory lists a forum once it has three members, the same rule search engines already got. Forums that sat untouched for two weeks with a single member are archived so the directory stays useful. If one of those is yours, open it from your dashboard and reactivate it, nothing is deleted for another 30 days.

A hello from us when you sign up

New accounts now get a short message from Forumera in their own language, asking what they want to build and what could be better. It shows up under Support inside Forumera, not in your email, and it is sent once. Reply there and it goes straight to the people who build Forumera.

Images in signatures, and docs for the new features

You can now add a small image to your signature, such as a banner or a button: edit your profile and use the Add image button, or paste an image into the signature box. Signature images are capped at 120 pixels tall so they stay tidy under posts. The docs gained pages on custom domains, exporting and importing your forum, and posts waiting for approval.

Your forum on your own domain

Pro forums can now live at a domain you own, such as forum.yoursite.com. Add the domain under Settings, General, create one CNAME record, and the certificate is issued for you. Public pages, feeds and sitemaps move to the new address and the old forumera.com subdomain redirects there. Signing in and posting still happen on the forumera.com address for now.

Less spam, more honest comparison

Forums created only to drop a backlink are now archived automatically, and a forum is not offered to search engines until it has three members, so Forumera does not lend its reputation to spam. Two throwaway email domains are blocked at signup, forum creation is limited to three per day, and a first post that contains a link from a brand-new account now waits for a moderator instead of going live, with an approve or reject queue under Settings, Log. On the marketing side there is a new side-by-side comparison of eight forum platforms, including the ones we compete with, a "Forumera at a glance" fact block, and real product screenshots in light and dark mode.

Move from phpBB, take your data with you

Moving a community off phpBB is now something we do for you: send a database dump and we import your categories, boards, threads, posts and members, with old topic links redirecting to their new home. Forum owners can also export their forum's data as JSON at any time. The features page now lists everything Forumera ships, so you can see it all in one place before you switch.

Delete your account or your forum yourself

You can now delete your own account from Account → Deactivate: type DELETE to confirm, and your posts, memberships and billing are removed by cascade (forums you own are deleted first). Forum owners get the same option for a single forum, from Settings → General. And picking a forum name that is already taken now says so clearly instead of a generic error.

Reading preferences: make any forum easier on your eyes

Under Account → "Reading & accessibility" (or "Reading options" in the forum menu) you can now choose always light or always dark regardless of a forum's design, standard colours instead of a forum's custom palette, larger text, high contrast and reduced motion. It follows you across every forum and device, and never changes what other members see.

Display names with spaces work everywhere

Profiles for names like "Don Hennes" no longer 404, profile links are case-insensitive, and you can @mention such members as @[Don Hennes] (the mention picker inserts that for you). Forums with a custom colour scheme now show their own colours to everyone, whatever light/dark setting a member's device has.

A smoother interface

Small touches all over: unread badges pop in, reaction counts tick, the tab and navigation highlights slide, saved and copied states animate, the post you were linked to flashes, and forms shake on a mistake. Everything respects your system's reduced-motion setting.
