Privacy policy

Last updated February 2026. This policy explains what data Forumera collects, why we collect it and how we handle it.

Who we are

Forumera is a hosted forum platform operated from Finland. When you create an account or use a forum on Forumera, we act as the data controller for your personal data.

What data we collect

When you sign up, we store your email address and display name. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email and profile picture from Google. When you post on a forum, we store the content you write. We also collect basic usage data such as page views, browser type and IP address to keep the service running and to detect abuse.

Why we collect it

We use your data to provide the service: authenticating you, displaying your posts and sending transactional emails like password resets or forum notifications. Usage data helps us fix bugs, prevent abuse and understand which parts of the product are used.

Third-party services

We use Supabase for hosting and authentication, Resend for transactional email, and Glyphex for privacy-friendly analytics. These services process data on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy policies. We do not sell your data to anyone.

Cookies

Forumera uses essential cookies for authentication and session management. Our analytics service (Glyphex) is cookieless and does not store anything on your device. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Data retention

Your account data and posts are kept for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed. Forum posts may be anonymized rather than deleted to preserve discussion threads.

Your rights

You can request a copy of your data, ask us to correct inaccurate data or delete your account at any time by contacting us at the address below. If you are in the EU, you have additional rights under the GDPR including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify users through the service or by email.
