Messages & notifications
Forumera separates public discussion in threads from private communication in messages, while keeping you notified about important activity across both.
Direct messages
Direct messages let you have one-to-one or small-group conversations outside of public boards and threads.
Common uses:
- Coordinating with co-moderators or admins.
- Giving private feedback.
- Following up on a thread without derailing the main discussion.
You can access your messages from the messages area in the app navigation. Conversations are listed with the most recent activity at the top.
Invites inbox
Forums can send you invites:
- To join a new forum.
- To access a private board or area.
- To take on a new role.
Invites are collected in a dedicated invites view under messages, where you can accept or decline them. Accepting an invite may immediately change what content you can see across the app.
Notifications
Notifications keep you updated on important events, such as:
- Someone replying to your thread or post.
- Being mentioned or referenced.
- Receiving a new invite.
Notifications are usually surfaced in the UI as an icon with a badge, and may also be summarised in other parts of the app. The exact behaviour can be tuned by the forum or platform over time.
Staying focused
To avoid notification overload:
- Watch only the forums and boards that are relevant to you.
- Skim thread titles before subscribing or replying.
- Use search to find information instead of expecting to see everything in your feed.
