Analytics & health

Forum analytics give admins a quick way to see how a forum is doing over time. Instead of guessing, you can look at a small set of health metrics and adjust structure, onboarding, or moderation as needed.

Where analytics live

When you open a forum from the admin dashboard, you may see an Analytics or Health section that surfaces key metrics for that forum.

These metrics are designed to be simple and actionable rather than exhaustive.

Core metrics

Current forum health metrics typically include:

  • New members (last 7 days) – how many people joined recently.
  • Active threads (last 7 days) – threads that have had activity in the last week.
  • Unanswered threads – threads with no replies, which may need attention.
  • Reply rate (last 7 days) – how often new threads receive replies, as a percentage.
  • Returning posters (last 30 days) – people who came back and posted again, not just one‑off visitors.

These are shown as simple cards so you can see trends at a glance.

How to use these metrics

  • If unanswered threads are high, consider:
    • Creating a dedicated “Unanswered” view for moderators or power users.
    • Encouraging subject‑matter experts to sweep unanswered questions regularly.
  • If reply rate is low:
    • Simplify your forum structure so questions land in the right place.
    • Add clearer guidelines for how to ask and answer questions.
  • If returning posters fall:
    • Check whether new members are getting useful responses.
    • Review whether announcements and canon summaries make it easy to follow what matters.

Analytics are most useful when you compare them over time and pair them with qualitative feedback from members.
