Export and import your forum

Exporting your forum

Go to Settings → General → Export your forum.

The export is a single JSON file with:

  • Categories and boards.
  • Threads and posts.
  • The member list, including usernames and roles.

It does not include member emails or private messages.

You can export up to 5 times per hour.

Importing from phpBB

Bringing in an existing phpBB forum is not self-serve yet. Here is how it works:

  1. Create your Forumera forum.
  2. Send us a phpBB 3.x MySQL dump through the contact page.
  3. We import categories, boards, topics, and posts, plus the members who posted. BBCode is converted to Forumera's formatting.
  4. Old viewtopic.php and viewforum.php links from your phpBB forum redirect to the matching thread or board on Forumera.
  5. Members claim their accounts with Forgot password, using the email address they signed up with on phpBB.

The import is free and usually takes a few working days.

What is not imported

  • Private messages.
  • Attachments stored on your old server.
  • Avatars.
  • Polls.
  • Permission and role setups (you configure roles fresh on Forumera).
  • Mods and themes.

See Migrate from phpBB for more on how the migration works.
