Post

A post is an individual message inside a thread. Every reply, follow‑up, clarification or summary you write in a thread is stored as a post.

What is a post in Forumera?

Posts are the smallest building blocks of conversation in Forumera:

  • A forum contains categories and boards.
  • Boards contain threads.
  • Threads contain posts.

Each post has:

  • An author and timestamp.
  • Content written with the rich editor (text, formatting, links, sometimes attachments).
  • Metadata such as reactions, edit history and, in some forums, moderation state.

How posts appear in the UI

In the thread view, posts are shown in order from oldest to newest by default. The opening post usually has extra visual weight, while replies follow below it.

Common UI elements around a post include:

  • Reply / quote buttons to continue the conversation.
  • Reactions (likes, emojis) that provide quick feedback without adding noise.
  • More actions like edit, report or share depending on your role and permissions.

From a URL perspective, posts are usually addressed indirectly via the thread URL with a fragment that scrolls to a specific post.

Writing good posts

High‑quality posts share a few traits:

  • Clear purpose. Start by answering the question “What am I trying to add to this thread?”.
  • Context in replies. When responding to a specific point, quote just enough of the original post to make sense out of context, not the entire thing.
  • Scannable formatting. Use headings, bullet lists and short paragraphs instead of walls of text.
  • Actionable details. For bug reports or help requests, include steps to reproduce, expected vs actual behaviour and relevant screenshots.

Poor posts often:

  • Repeat what has already been said without adding anything new.
  • Drift far off topic for the current thread.
  • Contain only “+1” or “same” without context or examples.
